A little distance away from the house, on the road towards Bagh, lies this village well. Aunty informs me that this well has been here for a long time. The ancestors of all families in this area had instructed their progeny to properly protect the well. And over the years, a structure has been built over the original well, with a door to keep thirsty animals from getting inside. For the water of the well is used for all religious rites and Devta Poojas that take place in the villages. There is a separate small well for the cattle to drink from, and is frequently visited by the grazing beasts. In times of water shortage, this well also provides water to Majhot, Panjyali and Depda village, which are spread across a small area around the well.
