The Mountain Walker Diaries: Reality Happens

Lingti, Himachal Pradesh, India, 29 January 2017, 0923 hours:
Not looking too promising. Just crossed Lingti and a villager said that the road is open from Pooh to Shimla, and from here to Mane Dhank. Which means the icy road from Mane Dhank to Tabo is closed. From Tabo to Pooh has been opened, since two cars from Shimla reached Tabo yesterday night.
Just met an old man and a young girl on the road. They have been walking from Dhankar, and are on their way to Kaza – that’s about 27-28 kilometres of walking in all. Was reminded of the realities of life for local residents in Spiti.
