Winter Bids Farewell to Shimla

10-03-2017 Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India:

The Queen of the Hills has yet again witnessed another snowfall this year. The month of February had turned out to be hot, compared to what the weather used to be like, for as long as I can remember during this month. This year, it had started raining during the month of February, leaving no hope of a snowfall. It seemed as if winters were over now. But, the weather changed again in the first week of March leading to snowfall in Manali, Chaupal and other higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh. Clouds had been gathering since Wednesday, which led to rain in Shimla and snowfall at Kufri yesterday. And today, the prevailing bad weather gave Shimla this fresh layer of snow, and winter once again smiled back, to wave a final goodbye for the next 9 months. The snowfall started around 9:30 in the morning and after 2-3 hours had accumulated to about 1-2 inches. Shimla couldn’t look more prettier. It was also an extraordinary event as it doesn’t snow in Shimla during March.
