The Wayfarer Diaries: The Preparation

28-01-2017, 1430 hours, Kaza, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, India:
After a few hours, electricity supply resumed at the petrol pump and we were able to refill the fuel tank of our car. The news just came through that the BRO (Border Road Organisation) has cleared the road till Tabo from the Kinnaur side. Meanwhile, the HPPWD  (Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department) workers are also making progress as they have cleared the road till Lingti and are going ahead.
Many of the locals had gone for the Kaal Chakra ceremony to Bodh Gaya and on their return journey, they have reached somewhere between Nako and Tabo. A lot of vehicles are also on standby here and are ready to go from Kaza to Rekong Peo as soon as the road gets opened. These vehicles will bring back the pilgrims who have reached Peo and who are now waiting for the vehicles.
For now, we are preparing ourselves for the journey tomorrow by removing the snow under and around the car. This is a precautionary measure to prevent the diesel from freezing in the fuel lines running between the engine and the fuel tank. The snow which is stuck between the tyre and the body has become so firm that in order to remove it, Mr. Sanju has to use a wooden plank like a tool.
Since we have been outside for the last 4 hours, preparing the car and getting updates about what all is happening, Mr. Tsering Bodh brought some tea to cheer us up.
