The Wayfarer Diaries: We Reach Sumdo

01-02-2017, 1320 hours, Sumdo, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, India:
We have reached Sumdo and are ahead of the convoy as the rest of the vehicles stopped for food at Hurling. Ever since we have crossed Tabo, the road has been in better condition. By the looks of it, it seems that the road in this section had been cleared of snow by the BRO much earlier than the Kaza to Tabo one. The snow has also melted and the tarmac is visible in patches. It is also noticeable that the accumulated snow on the road is comparatively less here. We are trying to contact Mr. Sanju, but are not able to as there is hardly any signal on the mobile phones either on our or his side. One of the female passengers in the front seat has got motion sickness and has kept the window open ever since she got inside the car. While the cold winds swarming in through the window is making everybody cold, it is also giving a good feel as we progress towards Rampur.
