The Wayfarer Diaries: Nako Thoughts

01-02-2017, 1455 hours, Nako, Kinnaur, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, India:
We have reached Nako and have stopped for food. My first instinct on getting down was to head straight for the Nako lake and come back without delaying us. But the cab driver told me that it would take a lot of time to do so and we still had a lot of distance to cover till Rampur.
I had heard during my earlier visits to Nako that the lake here gets frozen during the winters and children play ice hockey on it. We had actually planned that we would go to the lake on our way back with Mr. Sanjay Mehta and about which he was also excited. As the plan got cancelled, we had the packed lunch given to us by Mrs. Tsering Dolma for our journey – Tibetan bread stuffed with potatoes, and hot tea from the shop where we had stopped. We were then informed by our cab driver that Mr. Mehta had fixed the car and was headed our way, which was good news. But how much time he would take, none of us were sure of, as he had started 2-3 hours after we had left Lingti.
With all said and done, we are back inside the car and have started wondering what actually the scenario could have been, if only Mr. Mehta was with us in his car right now.
