The Wayfarer Diaries: All My Bags Are Packed…

15-09-2017, 1840 hours, Boileauganj, Himachal Pradesh, India:

The rain has finally stopped, giving everybody some respite from the heavy rainfalls that have disrupted life in the hills these past few weeks. Though the rain doesn’t fall constantly like it used to, nowadays it just pours like crazy (within an hour, the streets are flooded with water) and then it slows down and the water flow recedes¬†over a period of time.

Yesterday while coming back from Chandigarh I could feel how drastically the weather changed from hot and humid in the plains (my entire body was drenched in sweat), to the cool and pleasant weather of Shimla. One still needs to huddle inside a blanket to sleep here at night!

But today is a new day, or rather a new evening,, and am off on a new adventure. All my bags are packed and I am now on the road to leave for Manali, from where I will catch a bus to Kaza. It’s a long journey but I am really excited about it cause this time around I will be alone and also it’s the first time I will be going to Kaza by this route i.e. Manali- Kaza. Luckily I have got a hitch till Manali as some of my friends are headed the same way. Godspeed!

Shimla by Moonlight

WHAT A CANVAS! Shimla on a moonlit is an artist’s delight – even with the clouds, like today, the clouds in the sky look a bright skull suspended in the sky; Photo: Abhinav Kaushal.
