The Wayfarer Diaries: The Ever Deceptive Mountain Weather

1250 hours, 22-02-2018, Ngadi, Lamjung District, Province No. 4, Nepal :

We took a bus half way to Syange, thinking of walking the rest of the way. We had just entered the valley and it started raining. It’s the second rainfall we witnessed since our journey started. The nearby mountains were high, with constant thunder that could be heard echoing around us.

It’s colder here than in Besisahar and I think the rain and wind are aiding in this, for we are at an altitude of just around 1000 m. The weather conditions are slowly deteriorating as the rain has slowly changed into a hailstorm. It’s so loud that no other noise can be heard, but of the rain and the thunder. Feels good to smell the earth after a long time. Now it feels that we are in the Annapurna Circuit.

Just now a lightening bolt struck so hard that a bulb got fused instantaneously. The main power supply has been shut now to avoid any more damage.
