The Wayfarer Diaries: Tani Jubbard Lake

1240 hours, 12-01-2019, Tani Jubbard, Kotgarh, District Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India:

After driving for about 3 hours, we reach Tani Jubbard. The drive from Narkanda till here saw us driving through the dense forests around Hatu Peak with snow covering most of the earth. It had snowed a week back and even now, about 3-4 inches of snow remained accumulated on the forest floor and in the apple orchards along the way.

Upon reaching, we got down to see that half the lake was still frozen. Many tourists can also be seen enjoying the beauty of the lake. Being my first visit to the lake during winters, I couldn’t help but marvel its beauty with the dense forests of Hatu Peak sprinkled with snow in the background. Even the location of the lake itself adds to the charm, being surrounded by thick pine forests from all sides. The place also has a temple of Nag Devta at one corner of the lake, though I couldn’t find much about it from the information given on the board here.
