So what’s the similarity between climbing a mountain and building a company? Well, in both cases, success is a long-term horizon and dependent on taking a series of very small steps, continuously, towards the eventual goal. In the case of companies, in my opinion, the most important of these steps comes from individual achievements that are in sync with the company’s vision and purpose.
It is with great pride that I write today to share the news that The Mountain Walker’s co-Founder and CEO, Abhishek Kaushal, has completed his Advance Course in Mountaineering from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) with a ‘Grade A’ certificate. It is also a matter of pride for The Mountain Walker that our initial Angel Investor, Swarjit Samajpati has also achieved Grade A certification in the Advance Course. Some of our regular readers may know that Abhishek and Swarjit are climbing partners, a matter of great significance in our line of work.
The duo have been climbing for several years, and have been a part of many expeditions in the past few years. The NIM report is clear that their Ice and Snow craft was very commendable while their Rock craft was well above average among course participants. The duo have been recommended for participation in Mountaineering Expeditions of greater national stature, are now eligible to take upon further expert mountaineering courses including Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) camps, and to be called up to be members of Search & Rescue operations in mountainous terrains as and when required.
NIM – the only mountaineering institute in India certified by UIAA, the International Federation for Climbing and Mountaineering – is rated as one of the best mountaineering institutes in India and also considered as the most prestigious mountaineering institute in Asia. The Institute works under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence and the Government of Uttarakhand, and is headed by the Principal who is specially selected by the Ministry of Defence.
The institute is situated in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand and the course was conducted from 24-Apr-2019 to 21-May-2019. Apart from focusing on advanced climbing techniques, expedition planning and an expedition execution to Draupadi Ka Danda II (5670 m) was covered during the course. Emphasis during courses is laid on instilling the concept of Adventure and following conventional environmental guidelines to ensure environmental awareness and conservation.
Abhishek in his capacity as CEO of The Mountain Walker, is directly responsible for planning and execution of all itineraries (Travel, Adventure, Treks and Mountaineering), balancing safety, customer satisfaction, and local cultural and environmental considerations.
