We learnt that usually the Republic Day functions are held on the school ground with sports and cultural activities part of the programme. Since this year, all of Kaza was covered with a foot of snow, the programme was shifted indoors with students and local citizens and police personnel performing different acts.
Dr Vikram Singh Negi, the chief guest, kicked off proceedings with a brilliantly measured short and sweet speech that was inspiring, connecting the national, regional and local aspects of life very beautifully.
There were some great performances with shayari, jokes, songs, speeches, traditional dances and the like. There was a rendition of a patriotic song by Nitin Kumar of the Himachal Pradesh Police force that moved the audience.
