Shari, Himachal Pradesh, India, 08 September 2016, 1330 hours:
The bus has stopped at a wide spot in the middle of nowhere. Initially I couldn’t figure out what happened. Then Mela Ram Uncle clarified that the small shop where the driver and conductor have lunch is a little ahead, above the road. And since the road near the shop doesn’t have wide enough space for other vehicles to pass, the bus is parked at the nearest available wide space. That’s yet another example of cooperation and thoughtfulness as a part of the daily life in the Himalayan mountains.
Mela Ram Uncle said that we’ll have a late lunch at home, so we’re just having some light snacks and tea here.
