The terrain and road is now tougher and most unpredictable. Lahaul and Spiti are cold desert areas and don’t really have much rainfall, spare a few light drizzles. Snowfall is the more common phenomenon here. But this year, there has been frequent light rainfall, and the terrain is shifting with landslides and heavier flow of water and rubble. The mountains here are made up of sand, mud, pebbles, soil and rock, and any rain has an immediate impact on the environment and village life.
