And Good Morning

July 20, 2016, 0903 hrs.

The sun’s up above us, has been for some time. The Wayfarer had woken up around 5:00 am, and found fog all around – not to mention the chilly cold.

But now it’s clear, blue sky, with no clouds – White, Grey or any other colour. Kaushal is looking at the sky and wondering why we couldn’t have had these conditions yesterday.

We had breakfast in the open, under the morning sunshine (aloo paranthas and bread-omlette as usual), capping it off with four more cups of the herbal tea from pink flowers. Am sure someone someday will think of commercially exploiting this tea, and start a patent battle in some court somewhere – that’s how human beings are. For the time being, Sanjeev (partner and in-charge of the Dewachan Pema Camps at Chandratal) is happy serving it to people who visit. They themselves have been drinking the herbal tea since a French national visiting the camp many moons ago recognised the plant as a great natural tea.

A Churu has wandered into the camp (it’s her grazing ground first I’d argue), and is making her way across the grass, a nibble here and a nibble there. A Churu is a Yak-cow (Yak being the male bull). I know 😇 – mainly because Sanjeev and Hari Singh told me 😂.

We are off now to Manali.
